Management Team

John Maketa, Chief Executive Officer

John Maketa is a seasoned executive with deep expertise in the human capital and talent measurement sector. John’s career began at The Myers-Briggs Company when it was known as CPP, where he developed a thorough understanding of our history, marketplace, methodology and offerings. John then assumed key leadership positions at Pearson TalentLens and Performance Assessment Network. In both roles, he was responsible for accelerated revenue generation and product innovation to increase the valuation of both organizations during his tenure. John then spent several years overseeing business operations and the revenue team at Caliper Corp. During this time, he orchestrated a strategy to drive organic growth by harnessing pockets of excellence, making investments in new product innovation, and upgrading the marketing and sales functions. In addition to these leadership roles, John has worked as a due diligence advisor for various investment firms in the L&D and technology sectors.

Liam O'Connor, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Liam oversees the financial stability of all of The Myers-Briggs Company's operations. He provides robust financial management to help The Myers-Briggs Company meet its ambitious strategic objectives, including new product development and further international expansion. Liam joined The Myers-Briggs Company (formerly OPP Limited in Oxford) in 2011 and has overseen the development of the business including the disposal of subsidiary entities.

Liam is a chartered accountant with over 25 years’ financial experience, having worked in public practice, multinational PLCs and SMEs. He brings expertise from the software, pharmaceutical and fleet-management sectors, with a focus on strong cash management and driving profit across the business. Liam is also a qualified business coach having trained with Meyler Campbell in the UK.

Steve Nolan, Chief Revenue Officer

As a seasoned sales and business development executive, Steve Nolan brings to The Myers-Briggs Company a wealth of experience in the workforce solutions markets. With a focus on expanding and opening B2B markets by building trust and innovatively illustrating the value of his products, Steve has an established track record in the Fortune 1000, government and non-profit markets. Steve comes to The Myers-Briggs Company from Penn Foster where he managed their global sales portfolio. Previously, he worked as Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development at LearningExpress LLC. Steve earned his BA in Economics from Syracuse University and resides in Virginia with his wife and kids.

Thaddeus G. Stephens, Vice President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Secretary

Thad Stephens joined The Myers-Briggs Company in 2011. Thad oversees the Legal & Licensing Divisions and serves as corporate secretary to the Board of Directors. Prior to joining The Myers-Briggs Company, Thad was Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs at MegaPath Inc. (formerly Covad Communications), a national telecommunications services provider; Vice President and co-founder of Equilar, Inc., a provider of executive compensation data and analytics; and an associate in the corporate legal departments at three major law firms, including Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he started his legal career. Thad received his B.A. in English from the Oberlin College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School.

Jennifer Overbo, Vice President of Global Brand and Marketing

Jennifer Overbo joined The Myers-Briggs Company in 2009, serving in various marketing and product roles during her tenure. As the VP of Global Brand and Marketing, she is responsible for worldwide marketing strategy and brand development. Jennifer is passionate about helping individuals and teams reach their potential and has built her career working for organizations that exist to help people “be better.” She holds an M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and began her career developing and managing counseling programs for underemployed women and later worked at University of California, Los Angeles, providing a range of career and recruiting services to students and employers. Just prior to joining The Myers-Briggs Company, Jennifer was Director of Marketing for Jones Knowledge, a holding company for a portfolio of online education companies including the first fully accredited online university. In her role as a manager and regional director for JobDirect.com, she helped establish the start-up’s west-coast presence and customer base before it was successfully sold to Korn Ferry International in 2000. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys volunteering with her daughter as a member of the National Charity League as well as digging into all things creative and design oriented.

Nicole Trapasso, Vice President, Human Resources & Organizational Development

Nicole Trapasso joined The Myers-Briggs Company in 2000. She brings to her role more than 20 years of experience in leading innovative HR management and organizational development with a practical focus on using best practices to build and sustain a learning culture that is supportive and empowering . During her tenure, Nicole has instituted cascading goals, performance management, succession planning, culture surveys, professional development, workforce planning, Be Better University, and numerous other initiatives that build accountable, resourceful, and resilient cultures where talented people want to work. Prior to joining The Myers-Briggs Company, she was HR Manager at First World Communications, responsible for managing the full spectrum of HR from recruitment, management training, and employee relations to compensation, benefits, and payroll. She holds a B.A. in art history from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

Board of Directors

Marion McGovern, M.B.A.

Marion is the Chair of the Board at The Myers-Briggs Company and has been a The Myers-Briggs Company Director since 1998, serving as the Audit Chair for the past 6 years. She is currently a Director at The Alliance for CEOs, where she facilitates leadership development through a CEO peer exchange. Additionally, she’s the founder and former CEO of M Squared Consulting Inc., a human capital consulting firm with offices throughout California. She also founded Collabrus, an independent contractor compliance firm and is the author of Thriving in the Gig Economy (2017) and A New Brand of Expertise (2002). She’s appeared as an expert on workplace trends on numerous radio shows, podcasts, conferences and TV programs. Marion is currently on the Board and Business Development Committee of The Front Porch, a California Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with 14 facilities in the United States ranging from elderly housing to assisted living and dementia care. Additionally, Marion is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Gold and the National Association of Corporate Directors. McGovern has a BA from Boston University and an MBA from the Haas Business School at Berkeley.

Cynthia Cleveland

The Myers-Briggs Company Board Member Cynthia Cleveland is Founder & CEO of BroadThink, a global media, marketing and branding firm serving major entertainment and consumer product industry clients. She has held this position since 2002, and from 2011 has concurrently served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Advisors for BroadLit®, Inc., a digital publishing company she founded, which holds a vast library of romance ebooks, mobile games and merchandise and filmed entertainment. Prior to BroadThink and BroadLit, Cynthia was Universal Studios’ Worldwide President of Consumer Products & Games (1998-2001) and U.S. President of Licensing and Merchandising (1996-1998). Prior to her tenure at Universal Studios, Cynthia was President and CEO of educational retail toy chain Imaginarium, and President of Teleflora from 1988 until 1993. Cynthia was named one of the 100 Visionary Leaders by Real Leaders magazine. In addition, she also serves on the boards of Young Presidents’ Organization, on the International Networks Committee representing 26,000 members worldwide, the Indiana University Board of Visitors, and is a Trustee for the Committee for Economic Development. Cynthia holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California; and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University. In addition to her extensive experience Cynthia is committed to helping female executives prepare for and attain board appointments, co-chairs Women Corporate Directors BoardNext pilot program in Los Angeles. She also mentors a number of female entrepreneurs and launched several Lean In Circles for young women supporting our next generation of female leaders.

Henry G. (Hank) Jackson

Henry G. (Hank) Jackson currently leads a family-owned real estate development firm. He served as the president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest HR professional Society from 2010 to 2017. Previously, he served as the SHRM’s chief global finance and business affairs officer.

During Hank’s tenure, SHRM developed and launched its competency-based certifications—SHRM-SCP and SHRM-CP—a first and major advancement for the HR profession. Within two years, the number of SHRM-certified professionals grew to more than 100,000 worldwide. Under Hank’s leadership, the Society grew to nearly 300,000 members, and expanded its global operations in the middle-east and Asia, while becoming an authoritative voice on workplace public policy.

Hank came to SHRM from Howard University, where he was senior vice president and chief financial officer. In this role, he oversaw the financial well-being of the university’s 11 schools and colleges, a hospital, public television station, and commercial radio station. Prior to this role, he led the University’s accounting and technology functions.

Prior to joining Howard University, Hank worked in public accounting at KPMG. He has chaired the Boards of the North American Human Resources Associations and the University Medical Malpractice Insurance Company and served on the boards of the offshore Genesys Liability Insurance Consortium, SHRM India, Council for Global Immigration and the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations.

Hank earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in accounting from Stonehill College and is a certified public accountant.

Manoj Kulkarni

As the CEO of Realizeit, Manoj leads all aspects of commercial development, growth agenda and operations globally.

Manoj has held senior executive roles for more than 20 years providing transformational leadership in high volume, high growth and global businesses in Education, Technology and Retail sectors.

He is the former Chief Technology and Innovation Officer for Career Education Corporation, where he and his team pioneered the implementation of AI-based personalized learning across large-scale ground and online institutions powered by Realizeit technology. His work at Career Education has resulted in numerous awards and accolades for EdTech innovation from Information Week, Computerworld, and others.

Prior to Career Education Corporation, he served as the Vice President of Information Technology for Toys R Us Inc., leading technology operations and engineering in the US and internationally.

Manoj earned his Bachelor in Engineering from India’s College of Engineering, Pune and his Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Dr. Penny Moyle

Penny is an Organizational Psychologist, specializing in leadership coaching and bespoke executive education. Her clients include senior leaders from professional services, private equity, not-for-profits, academic research, and Formula 1 racing.

She was CEO of OPP Ltd. (now the European office of The Myers-Briggs Company) from 2011 to 2016, beginning her career there in 1998 as a consultant and trainer. During her tenure, she also held management roles in R&D, Publishing, Sales and Marketing.

Penny was also the founding CEO of Race Against Dementia, a not-for-profit organization that funds dementia research. She is the driving force behind a unique Fellowship Programme to fund early career dementia researchers, connecting them with motorsports and other high-tech commercial enterprises to accelerate their progress in finding a prevention or treatment for dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Penny believes in making personality theory and psychological insights accessible and applicable to everyone. She’s an expert in The Myers-Briggs Company’s products and techniques and is regularly invited to speak on how to apply them for the value of both individuals and organizations. She appeared as an expert on the BBC TV program ‘What am I like? The Personality Test’, and her academic paper responding to the critics of the MBTI tool was published in the Journal of Personality Assessment. Penny has a BA with First Class Honors (top graduate in her year) from the University of Adelaide, Australia. She was awarded a George Murray scholarship to Oxford University, where she gained a doctorate (D.Phil.) in Experimental Psychology. Her research was recognized as outstanding and she was given a Prize Research Fellowship by Nuffield College, Oxford.

Penny joined the Board of The Myers-Briggs Company in November 2021.
