Employee surveys continue to reveal trust as a critical component in the workplace for organizational success. Despite this being a top value for most organizations, research has shown only 49% of employees trust their manager. So how do you build trusting relationships as a manager when many organizational policies are outside of your control? In this workshop we will focus on the human behavioral tendencies that can hinder trust and explore strategies to overcome these tendencies.
Practical Tips for Managers to Build Trusting Relationships is an interactive half-day workshop facilitated by CPP’s Director of US Professional Services and leadership development expert Sherrie Haynie, M.Ed. By the end of the session, participants will have learned:
How to identify their own behavioral tendencies impacting trust
How to build trusting relationships with direct reports during performance improvement conversations, encouragement or showing appreciation of efforts
How to build trust by improving the ability to gain buy-in and support
What you'll learn
During this workshop, participants will delve into behavioral tendencies impacting trust. One size does not fit all, as certain behaviors will promote trust with some individuals, yet drive a wedge in your relationship with others. Through interactive exercises, you will explore your own blind spots and biased assumptions that fuel behavioral tendencies, hindering trust, as well as learning strategies to overcome these tendencies.
What you'll get
Participants will walk away with practical tips to immediately apply in day-to-day settings to build or strengthen trusting relationships with their teams. Participants will need to have completed an MBTI assessment and verified their personality type pre-workshop. If you don't know your MBTI type, you will be invited to complete the questionnaire ahead of the workshop.
Who should attend?
Line-of-Business managers interested in exploring team development by building or strengthening team trust.
